LORANZIBOOK A CONSULTATION
ABOUT
Made by Hand
Since 1987.
A family workshop in Bermondsey, fourteen makers, one way of working. We design, build and fit everything ourselves, and we have never wanted to be bigger than a room where everyone knows every job.

GENERATIONS
We make fewer rooms than we could, so that every one is made the way we would want it in our own house.
Loranzi began in 1987 as a two-bench workshop making kitchens for neighbours. The work got bigger, the method did not. A project still starts with a visit and a hand drawing, timber is still bought as whole logs and dried for years before it is cut, and the person who makes a piece is still the person who fits it.
That is slower and more expensive than the alternative. It is also why a kitchen we fitted in 1996 is still in use, and why we can guarantee our work for as long as the client owns it.
THE WORKSHOP
Three rooms, one roof.
14 Tanner Street has been home since 2008. Visitors are welcome by appointment; the showroom is at the front, the benches behind it.
TIMBER STORE
TIMBER STORE
Boards are bought as whole logs and left to dry for two to four years before they are touched.
BENCH ROOM
BENCH ROOM
Eight benches, hand tools and three machines. Joints are cut by the person who will fit them.
FINISHING ROOM
FINISHING ROOM
Oils and waxes applied by hand, three coats, cut back between each. Nothing is sprayed.
HISTORY
Thirty-eight years, five dates.
The rest is rooms, and most of those are still in use.
